Before I knew that I should file an answer with the court, I made a payment plan with the debt collector for the full amount by phone. Before I had all the information. I have signed nothing. I filed an answer with the court asking for proof of the debt amount and proof that the plaintiff is the actual owner of the debt. I just got confirmation of payment plan papers. Should I call them to cancel the plan in order to have more leverage when I try to settle for a lesser amount of the debt? Or should I wait and see what happens next? Thank you.
